Azox Search: The Bridge
The Golden Age
In 2008, Azox launched as the world's first true "one-stop travel" platform. Book a flight, reserve a hotel, rent a car, arrange airport transfers, purchase travel insurance, and even book restaurant reservations at your destination—all from a single dashboard.
By 2012, Azox commanded 34% of the online travel market. The platform was elegant: one login, one payment, one itinerary. Business travelers loved the seamless corporate booking tools. Families appreciated the vacation packages that bundled flights + hotels at 20% discounts. The interface was clean, the prices were competitive, and the loyalty program—Azox Rewards—offered points that could be redeemed across any of the platform's services.
The company's motto—"One journey, one platform"—became synonymous with modern travel.
The Antitrust Reckoning
In March 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a landmark antitrust lawsuit against Azox International. The complaint alleged that Azox had engaged in "anticompetitive vertical integration"—using its dominance in search and discovery to funnel users to its own flight, hotel, and car rental services while burying competitors.
Internal emails revealed that Azox's algorithm deliberately downranked competitor listings by 15-30 positions when users searched for travel services. The platform also engaged in "self-preferencing"—showing Azox-branded flights and hotels in premium positions regardless of price or quality.
In December 2021, the DOJ and Azox reached a historic consent decree requiring the divestiture of its flight, hotel, and car rental businesses within 24 months.
The Great Unbundling
On June 30, 2024, the restructuring was complete. What had been one unified platform became six independent companies:
SkyJet Airways
Flight bookings and airline partnerships. Largest online flight aggregator in North America.
StayNest Hotels
Hotel reservations and accommodations. Specializes in boutique and luxury properties.
TripVoyage
Full-service travel booking. The spiritual successor to the original Azox experience.
Azox Car Rentals
Vehicle rental services. Partners with 40+ rental agencies worldwide.
Azox Insurance
Travel insurance and protection plans. Underwritten by Lloyd's of London.
Azox Search
The neutral search platform. This site. Designed to provide unbiased access to all Azox-affiliated services.
Azox Search: The Bridge
Azox Search was created as a neutral discovery layer. It doesn't favor any particular Azox-affiliated company. Search for "flights to Barcelona" and you'll see results from SkyJet, TripVoyage, and third-party airlines ranked purely by relevance and price.
The search engine uses the same algorithm that powered the original Azox platform—before the antitrust findings revealed it had been modified to favor in-house services. That original algorithm, version 3.2.1, was preserved in the consent decree as a "neutral search baseline" and open-sourced under the Azox Search Alliance.
The platform processes over 2 million searches daily and remains free to use. Revenue comes from referral fees paid equally by all affiliated and non-affiliated travel providers—a structure designed to eliminate the incentive for self-preferencing.
The Legacy
Today, Azox.net is both a cautionary tale and a success story. Cautionary because it demonstrates how dominant platforms can abuse their position. Success because the breakup created six competitive companies that now innovate independently.
SkyJet has launched a carbon-offset program that has become an industry standard. StayNest's curated boutique hotel collection has earned critical acclaim. TripVoyage's AI-powered itinerary planner won CES Innovation Awards in 2025 and 2026. And Azox Search—the platform you're using right now—continues to serve as the neutral gateway to all of them.
The old Azox is gone. But the idea behind it—that travel should be simple—lives on in every search, every booking, and every journey that starts with a single query.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are there multiple companies under azox.net?
In 2021, a U.S. Department of Justice antitrust settlement required Azox International to divest its flight, hotel, and car rental businesses into separate companies. Each company now operates independently under the azox.net domain as part of the restructuring.
Is Azox Search biased toward any company?
No. Azox Search uses the neutral search algorithm mandated by the consent decree. Results are ranked by relevance and price, not by company affiliation. All affiliated and non-affiliated providers pay equal referral fees.
Can I still use a single account across all services?
Yes. The Azox Unified Account system allows you to log in once and access all six affiliated services. Your loyalty points are tracked separately but can be viewed in a single dashboard through Azox Search.
What happened to the old Azox Rewards program?
Existing Azox Rewards points were transferred to the respective companies at the time of the breakup. SkyJet honors flight points, StayNest honors hotel points, and so on. Azox Search offers a "Legacy Rewards" tracker that shows your combined status across all six programs.
